Ornithopsis war ein Sauropode und ist nur von wenigen Fossilien bekannt. Eindeutig zuzuordnen sind der Typusart nur zwei Rückenwirbel. Zwar wurden auch Fragmente des Scham- und des Sitzbeins gefunden und anderen Arten des Ornithopsis zugeordnet, deren Gültigkeit aber durch viele Fehlinterpretationen nicht erwiesen ist. Da der Fund sehr spärlich und schlecht erhalten ist, gilt die Zuordnung dieses Dinosauriers als zweifelhaft.
